Kam Kai Heong (Ampang)

Located near Ampang New Village, a traditional chinese delicacy that passed down through generations with the ideology of "ancient chinese official servings "  A chinese home cooked food with memory's of grandma cooking.




Kam Kai Heong Golden Chicken
Kam Kai Heong ( "In chinese words")  translated in chinese meaning Golden Aromatic Chicken. This plate of poarched chicken is the shop's signature dish. The chicken is poarched to golden perfection, firm and tender with home blend soya sauce to bring the chicken goodness.

Also another promising dish from Kam Kai Heong is the  Hakka "Zhar Yuk". Is a savory dish that uses chinese red fermented beancurd and deep fried till golden brown. The taste is a little salty if you just eat directly so is preferably to go with rice.

The shops offers some variety of homemake "yong tau fu" such as stuffed white beancurds, wrapped egg omeletes, fish pastes, fish maw, oysters and etc. Some are served with soup base with a dipped of red chili sauce.

Stir Fried Brinjal Prawns

Brinjal lovers here you go. Stir Fried Brinjal with Prawns are such an awesome match. It enhances the sweetness of the brinjals and they are generous enough to add quite a number of medium sized prawns.

Ipoh Delight

My next stop at downtown ipoh, I had the opportunity to try out their famous ipoh nga choi gei at a restaurant name called LOU WONG BEAN SPROUTS (NGA CHOI GEI) IPOH.  

Lou Wong Nga Choi Gei has another strong competitor just right beside them called Ong Gei Tauge Ayam Ipoh, selling basically the same thing and both have their crowds, but for personal preference i do vote for a good first try out at Lou Wong instead.

So what does it deffer from our usual chicken rice with tauge? And how it won many hearts of the locals as well as internationally.

The first main startlet is the half boiled poarched chicken is boiled to perfection remaining is freshness and juicyness of the chicken, it is tender smooth compared to others, guess is the skilled  or secret recipe to cook the chicken that is important and combined with the aroma of hot fragrant soya sauce to go with and sprinkles of spring onions, celery with a dash of red chilies before serving to your table.
 
 
Crunchy bean sprouts also known as "Nga Choi"
 
The second startlet is ofcourse the bean sprouts to go with the chicken. The bean sprouts are grown originally in ipoh and is larger in size compared to the rest. The locals say is due to good waterhills to grow the beansprouts that distinct with the rests and combined  together with the skilled chef to have a tasty plate of bean sprouts. 
 
 
 
 
 
 
 
This is another signature dish of Lou Wong translated in chinese is called
" Glass chicken leg".
The name is unique itself as the process of making this dish is firstly remove the bones of the chicken leg, leaving only skin and combined with tantalizing sweet sour sauce and dash of peanuts. The skin is transparent in colour taste abit of a Thai dish and opens up everyone appetites.
 
 
 
 
 
 
 
 
The stall is hanging full of ready poached chickens to serve daily customers needs. The level of hygiene is moderate, so eat at your own risks. heee.... there is always a saying dirty restaurants serves delicious foods. Is it true? Oopss...

Lotus Family Restaurant

Hello Fellow Foodmates, I'm sure you all have a great time around as August is a great month of festive holidays and long weekends.

After long work and no holidays really makes everyone a dull person, so here comes a little spice added into my food explore.

An indian cuisine at Jalan Gasing Petaling Jaya called The Lotus Family Restaurant. This restaurant attracts all different races of customers. Not to mentioned Thai Monks eat there to. (As is near to the  thai buddha temple called Watchetawan)

The restaurant serve their dishes in a banana leaf which comes along with a few side dishes.



We all know Indian's are always famous for their curries, they serve real mouth watering curries from Curry Lamb shank, curry chicken, curry fish head, squids, fried stuffed crabs etc.

Besides of all curries and dishes, what suprised me was their teh-tarik. We all know Malaysian loves teh-tarik this is highly recomended to try out. If you prefer not too sweet do tell them to have a kurang manis teh tarik satu.  Is such a perfect combination to go with your curry rice. :)



It has become a celebrity hotspot as well enjoyed by Past and Present ministers as their favourite morning tea's. The Ambience of the restaurant is good, clean and is air-conditioned with valued for money.
